How to Sign up or Change your Direct Deposit or Pay Card information

 

To best serve MSU employees, MSU provides payment of wages through direct deposit or through a payroll debit card (Pay Card).  Upon your hire date, you are expected to either sign up for a direct deposit or request a pay card.   Campus Solutions does not share direct deposit information with EBS; therefore, you must enter your banking information into EBS.

What is Payroll Direct Deposit and the Pay Card?

Payroll Direct Deposit allows you to receive your wages electronically to a U.S. bank or credit union account of your choice.  The Pay Card allows you to receive your wages loaded electronically onto a payroll debit Visa card, which you will be able to use to make purchases and withdrawals. MSU has partnered with Michigan State University Federal Credit Union to provide the Pay Card All terms and conditions are available at www.msufcu.org/paycard.  

Please note you are only allowed to have your wages deposited into one bank account.

How do I select payroll direct deposit or the Pay Card?

Access EBS portal at http://www.ebs.msu.edu/ to either sign up for direct deposit or to request a Pay Card. 

Sign in with your MSU Net ID and password, then multi-factor authentication

Click on “My Time and Payroll”

Click the tile named “Bank Information.”

There are two ways to receive your payroll earnings:  Direct Deposit OR Pay Card

For Direct Deposit:

Click on the “pencil” icon to sign up or change direct deposit.

Click directly inside the field to type your routing and account number.  (Do not click the double square icon to the right to open the additional fields.)

Enter the Routing number and account number given to you by your bank / credit union.

Your account number is “NOT” the number on your Debit Card or a Deposit slip

Verify your Routing and Account number you just entered.

Check the “Employee Authorization” box.

When completed, click on the “Save and back” button

Please verify your bank’s routing number and bank account number with your bank. DO NOT INPUT YOUR DEBIT CARD NUMBER BECAUSE THIS IS NOT YOUR BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER. If you make an error while inputting your banking information, we need to wait for your bank to return your funds to us. Once we receive the returned pay, we will reissue your payment, via direct deposit to your new account, during the weekly off-cycle process. IT WILL TAKE AT LEAST A WEEK BEFORE THESE TASKS CAN BE COMPLETED, SO BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR ENTRIES.

For Pay Card:

Select the “Pay Card” box to the right portion of the screen to request a Pay Card

Check the “Employee Authorization” box

When completed, click on the “Save and back” button.
